License Permissions
A clear comparison of permissions and usage rights across Community, Individual, and Team licenses:
1. Grant of License
When you purchase a Space UI Individual Lifetime or Team License, or install components from our registry, Space UI grants you a worldwide, perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable commercial license to use, modify, and integrate Space UI code into unlimited end-products.
An “End-Product” is defined as a customized website, web application, mobile app, SaaS platform, or digital tool where the primary value is the final product or service itself, and not the redistribution of Space UI component source code.
2. The Open Source & GitHub Policy
We get asked this frequently by creators who love open source: “Can I push my project to a public repository on GitHub or GitLab?”
Here is our clear and creator-friendly policy:
A. Community Primitives & Components: 100% MIT Open Source
All base primitives, utility hooks, and free community blocks in Space UI are published under the permissive MIT License. You can freely include an unlimited number of them in public open-source repositories on GitHub, GitLab, or npm, without requiring any license purchase or copyright restrictions.
B. Open Source Fair-Use Allowance (Max 15 Pro Components)
As a Space UI Pro license holder (Individual or Team), you are granted a special Open Source Fair-Use Allowance:
- Up to 15 Pro Components per Public Repo: You are permitted to include up to a maximum of 15 Space UI Pro components in any single public open-source project repository.
- Genuine End-Products Only: The public project must be a genuine functional application (e.g., an open-source SaaS, web utility tool, community platform, developer portfolio, or experimental demo).
- No Standalone UI Kits or Scrapers: The repository may not be, under any circumstances, a UI kit, component collection, design system starter, template aggregator, or clone designed to redistribute Space UI Pro assets.
- Attribution Notice (License Block): You must include the following notice in your repository’s
LICENSE,NOTICE.txt, orREADME.md:LICENSE (or NOTICE.txt)
C. Larger Codebases & Full Repositories: Private Repositories
If your project incorporates more than 15 Space UI Pro components:
- Private Repositories: The source code repository must remain private on GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, or self-hosted Git servers.
- Public Production Deployments: Your deployed web app, production SaaS, or client portal can be 100% public, indexed by search engines, and accessible to the entire world. Only the underlying Pro source code repository is kept private.
3. Individual License vs. Team License
A. Individual Lifetime License
The Individual license is assigned to one named individual (developer, designer, or creator). It allows you to:
- Build unlimited commercial SaaS products for yourself.
- Build and deliver unlimited commercial projects for clients, agencies, or employers.
- Use the CLI, MCP server, and AI Agent Skills on all your personal and work machines.
- Receive all future component drops, shader additions, and updates forever.
B. Team License
The Team license is tailored for agencies, product studios, startups, and software engineering teams. It grants up to 10 concurrent seats within the same organization. It includes:
- Independent CLI access tokens and AI Agent Skills for each team member.
- Self-serve seat reassignment: When a team member or contractor leaves, you can reassign their seat to a new colleague anytime.
- Consolidated company billing with full VAT-compliant invoicing.
- Priority email and Discord support for the entire team.
4. Client Projects, Freelancers & Agencies
Space UI is engineered to be the most lucrative toolkit in your freelance and agency workflow. You have full freedom to:
- Bill Clients Freely: Charge your clients whatever you choose for projects built with Space UI. You keep 100% of your earnings with zero royalty fees.
- Client Handoff: When your work is done, you can hand off the finished website, source code, or private repository to your client. Your client receives an automatic sublicense to run, modify, host, and maintain that specific delivered project.
- Do Clients Need Their Own License? No, not for the project you built and delivered. Your client only needs to purchase their own Space UI license if they want to build new, separate projects from scratch using the Space UI component registry.
5. Commercial SaaS Applications
You can use Space UI components and shaders to build software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications, web platforms, membership portals, e-commerce stores, and digital dashboards.
- You can charge recurring subscription fees or one-time purchases for your SaaS.
- You can build an unlimited number of separate SaaS applications under a single license.
- There are no user limits, traffic limits, or revenue caps on the applications you build.
6. What You Cannot Do
The boundary is simple: You cannot use Space UI to create a product whose primary purpose is redistributing the components or competing with Space UI.
- No Competing Libraries: You cannot package Space UI components into another UI library, Tailwind component kit, web component collection, or design system kit for distribution.
- No Themes or Template Packs for Resale: You cannot sell generic HTML/React theme packs, templates, or UI bundles on ThemeForest, Envato, Creative Market, or similar marketplaces where the main value is the Space UI code.
- No Page Builders with Component Export: You cannot create a visual drag-and-drop website builder, CMS theme engine, or AI generator that allows end-users to export or download raw Space UI components.
- No Public Leaking of Tokens: Private CLI tokens and MCP credentials cannot be published or shared publicly.
7. AI Skills, Context Files & MCP Integration
Space UI provides AI Agent Skills, Markdown context documentation (`llms-full.txt`), and an MCP (Model Context Protocol) integration designed for Claude Code, Cursor, and VS Code.
- These assets are licensed for internal development workflow automation within your licensed workspaces.
- You may not scrape or use Space UI proprietary components to train public commercial AI models or power public AI generation endpoints that emit Space UI code to third parties.
